Return the book to the library and Mrs. Lewis will asses the damage. If it is not able to be salvaged, the student will be responsible for paying for the book. *Most water damaged books are not salvageable. Once a book has been wet it is often very difficult to prevent if from molding. If a damp book were returned to the shelf not only will it most likely mold but the mold will also spread rapidly to other books on the shelf. For this reason we usually do not attempt to salvage books once they have been wet.*
I lost my book, now what?
If you believe you have lost your book(s) come to the library and let Mrs. Lewis know. We will first check our shelves in case it was already returned by the teacher or another student. If we can not find it in the library Mrs. Lewis will send home a printed out report of the cost to replace the lost book(s). Please send in the exact amount via cash or check. We do not keep a money box in the library therefore I am not able to make change.
*You will notice that library books cost more than other printed versions of the same book. Most of our books are hardback and library bound. This makes them more durable for our use but also makes them more expensive. I can not accept a copy of the same book in a different format to replace lost books. If you can find the book in the same format, I will accept substitutions to replace lost books.
