Cline teachers will be sending home your child's sign-up information this week! Be on the lookout for it. This program is for tracking the minutes that your child reads over the Summer. It does not provide the reading materials. Your student may read books they already own, books they check out or books they read online. Information about accessing our online and ebooks can be found under the resources tab.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is a term that many schools and educators have become familiar with over the years. STEM education has garnered a lot of attention lately. Studies are showing us that we are not in the business of preparing students for today's careers. Rather we are preparing them for the careers of tomorrow. Many of which have not yet been established. So how do we prepare students for careers that do not yet exist? For many schools STEM education is the pathway to opening doors and possibilities to students. The following infographic gives insight into the state of STEM careers in the U.S. So why STEAM instead of STEM? Cline Elementary has a history of providing a robust Fine Arts Day. The push for STEM has led into a transition of incorporating Fine Arts Day with STEM. The result is STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math)! We were thrilled to plan this day and see how much the students enjoyed participating in all activities.
Here are a few pictures from the day. Please ask your child about their favorite activity. The sound of baby chicks is a sound of Spring at Cline. Back in March four classrooms were selected to house the incubators. Students watched closely for 21 days!
We have approximately 70 chicks this year. Many of the chicks will go to farms in the Manvel area. These farmers look forward to receiving the chicks each year. The eggs were donated to our school from the Texas A&M Poultry Science Agriculture Farm. Students who had perfect attendance for the third nine weeks of school were invited to a bubble party. The students were called by grade level and treated to a 1o minute bubble party! Congratulations to these students!
Cline second grade students read several Fancy Nancy stories by Jane O'Connor. They discussed fancy words and what their meanings were. Students were then invited to dress fancy for school. It was a great day for everyone and a fantastic way to teach students how to tackle fancy words and build their vocabulary.
Here are the photos from Thursday night. Again, thank you for coming to Open House! We were happy to see so many of you come and enjoy the wax museum (put on by second grade) and the STEM projects (put on by third grade).
We hope that you all had a fun night at Open House! It was great to see many of you come out to support our students at Cline. The Book Fair was also open. Thank you to so many of you for visiting the Book Fair and our green screen room! Here are just a few pictures from last night. All the pictures can be found on FISD's Smug Mug. We look forward to seeing all of our Second and Third grade students on Thursday night! March 2 is Dr. Seuss's birthday and students at Cline celebrated throughout the day. The morning began with First grade students parading through the building in their favorite Dr. Seuss character attire. Second grade students selected their favorite Dr. Seuss book and read in the hallways. Many other classes read Dr. Seuss books and enjoyed various Dr. Seuss activities.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS! Our Spring Book Fair is set up in the library. Students will be previewing the Book Fair when their class comes to the library. With our six day rotation this means that classes will be previewing until next Tuesday. Be on the lookout for a yellow piece of paper in your child's folder. This is their wish list. The Book Fair officially opens on Monday, March 7th. We look forward to another successful Spring Book Fair!
